Suchań

2012.08.27 -

Prof. Aleksander Bursche and mgr Anna Zapolska, with dr Bartłomiej Rogalski from the National Museum in Szczecin, paid a visit to the area to confirm the current preservation status of the Migration Period site. In this we were assisted by Bogdan and Sławomir Kreczko, who originally discovered the site at Suchań. We established that the area of the earlier sondage excavation is still under cultivation and belongs to Daniel Marynowski who at present refuses to make his field available for research. In this situation we identified the owners of the land adjacent to Mr. Marynowski’s farmland not under cultivation at present. This land is the property of commune Suchań; mgr inż. Stanisława Bodnar the Commune Mayor agreed to make it available for our study.

Moreover, we identified a number of peatlands nearest to the site suitable for the future palynology study.
