Held 16-18 May 2018, the Conference had been organized by the Institutes of Archaeology of Universities in Poznań, Łódź and Lublin (Adam Mickiewicz University, University of Lodz and Maria Curie Skłodowska University respectively). Among its participants, mostly from Germany, the Czech Republic and Poland, were some MPOV team members. A series of contributions reported on the results of analyses of archaeological materials made using advanced chemical and physical methods. The opening lecture was delivered by Professor Aleksander Bursche who wrapped up the implementation of the MPOV Project - Okres Wędrówek Ludów między Odrą a Wisłą. Raport finalny (Migration Period between Odra and Vistula. Final report.)

Erich Blume, a student of Gustaf Kossinna and himself a greatly promising researcher specialising in Roman Period and Migration Period archaeology, staff member of the Prehistory Department of the Kaiser-Friedrich-Museum in Poznan, was shot to death at the Puszczykowo railway station on 10 September 1912 by his jealous wife. He was then 28 years old.

In 2012 the Poznań Archaeology Museum commemorated Erich Blume in a special exhibition http://www.old2.muzarp.poznan.pl/en/exhibitions/close-encounters-with/erich-blume-1984-1912/. The first conference held at Puszczykowo was dedicated to his memory.
